ODE to JOY! Limited Edition Gown to benefit SHINE!

I am proud to be participating again this year in the SHINE fashion event.  I have created two things for this.  Once is a Limited Edition Gown that is available in my shop until Jan 1, 2010...at which time it will be removed from the shelves forever!

All hand-drawn, using original textures, this gown is selling for $350L with all proceeds to benefit SHINE.

Keep watching, I will be posting the gown that will be offered at silent auction as a one of a kind in a few days!

Don't ya love it when...

You know, I  have come up with some of my favorite designs when I have been trying (and failing) to do something else.  That's how it is with Pearls and Lace.  I was trying to work out something and it just wouldn't turn out like what I had in mind...then suddenly I ran with what I had, and here ya go :)

Satin and lace, accented by perfect little pearls!  Two skirting options are included-a long skirt for a formal dinner or dancing, and a fun little flexi perfect for coctail hour!

Celebrate the New Year in flirty little metallic skirt sets!  I've been trying to draw a lame I'm happy with for quite a while, they all make it about as far as the wastebasket :)  I think I might finally have it though!  I'm really happy with this, sparkly and sexy and ready for New Year's eve in your favorite club!  A flirty little flexi skirt and a bandeau top to make your new  year shine!

Dramatic, Romantic, and Sexy....Harlow!

How this gown clings to an hourglass figure!  Strapless, with a daring deep V neckline, this dress will be a shimmering compliment to your wardrobe.  Available in black, red or green, the ensemble offers long skirts for glamor, or short for sassy!

A variety of newness!

First is a jacket I have been working on for a while, and I am pleased with how it has turned out :)

I am proudest I think because every texture on this very detailed jacket, with the exception of the embroidery, was done by me...from the buttons to the braiding to the little ribbon trims :)  This jacket also comes with sculpted sleeve cuffs.

Next up is a Victorian style gown to add to my Guinever line.  Gold satin and silver embroidery, oh my!  The dress also includes the gemmed hair ribbon.  I love shiny things!

I have had requests to rework my Men's Camo Pants for the ladies :)  Some people really aren't comfortable modifying some things and so I went ahead and reworked some for the gals :)  All it really took was a little resizing of the sculpts, and they are done:

and finally, I have a free gift out in my shop for you!  This little witch costume will be available until Halloween:

Two new gowns for RP or not!

Silver ribbon borders inlays of embroidered sky blue satin on this lovely cobalt gown.

Ruby satin with gem-studded white trims and inserts are offset by gold ribbons and trims in this exquisite gown.

Lovingly crafted with attention to detail.  I enjoyed creating every part of these gowns, and I think it shows even in the tiniest details.  The textures are original, and most were created specifically for this gown.  Stop in and see it :)

Coming Soon! My favorite jeans!!

How well I remember them...they were my favorite jeans. The denim was so worn it felt more like velvet. As they wore out in spots, I patched them lovingly. When the style went from flare leg to straight leg, I took out the leg seams and remade them. Years of work, patches and embroidery went into those jeans! Finally the time came when I had to grow up, and put away those things of my youth...well really, the denim was so worn that anytime I wore them, a new tear would appear on the legs. So I did what so many people did with the old jeans that were lovingly patched and embroidered...I cut them into sexy little cutoffs and wore them for a few more summers before I finally let them go! I had, and wore, and lovingly mended, embroidered, and patched these jeans for probably 10 years. The saddest part is, I can't remember for the life of me what finally became of them...the happiest part is, I can recreate them on SL!

They are not quite ready for release, but I wanted to post them because I am about to wear them out to a best in jeans!

Dotty!

What do you get when you mix a sunny day and Jane Russell? Colorful polka-dots! I was visiting a friend and we were watching an old black and white movie, and there was Jane Russell in a lovely polka-dot dress. I pulled out my trusty little pad and pencil, and my friend just laughed and shook his head (he's used to it).

I started with black and white (the color of the dress Jane was wearing), but the sun was shining and children were playing outside and pretty soon I was turning black and white into colors :)

Slippery Colors

The set includes 3 skirt styles, lace up leggings on the underpant layer, pants and skirt base on the pants layer, and the bodice on 3 layers, and comes in 4 colors.

Slippery When....

A friend of mine was DJ at a club, so I TP'd over to listen. When they got there, I found out they were having a latex event. I searched my bags, and no latex. Hmmmm...

I had tried to make latex before but didn't have a lot of luck, so I decided to give it another try. I've gotten some good reviews! From my partner: "ZOOOOM Cams way in" and from my friend the DJ "OMG Ral that is HOT". Now of course, one is my partner and one is my friend, and in both cases they are male and well...you know how men are :P So I present it to you, and we will see!

Tricie!

This dress is done hand drawn in a rich crushed velvet with satin and lace trims, and is reminiscent of the victorian era 'afternoon' dress. It comes with the white blouse and prim blouse ruffle, jacket, system skirt (serves as the lower part of the jacket) and 2 lengths of flexi skirt. It also includes a sunhat with sculpted bows.

All elements of this dress are hand-drawn, including the little gem detail on the prim ruffle, the belt buckle, and even the little pearl buttons!

Only $225L, this dress will be available in my mainstore and on XSSL on May 5 (Tuesday)!

I am hoping to have a grand 're-opening' event on the 14th (we shall see how it goes lol)

Boda

Boda

Boda!

I have been trying for a while to work out how to best create this, I finally got it like I want it!

I remember when...I used to have about 10 of these skirts in my closet, and I wore one every day, all summer long. I loved them! Those were the days, of wine, summer, and song :) SUMMER! How I love it!

Earth and water are done, air and fire to follow.

Hand drawn, and the skirt textures made by me as well (gotta love reflect in PSP)

Enjoy!

More Leather for the Guys!

I've been working hard on my leather techniques over the past few weeks, and I decided that it was time to (finally) finish up a leather vest project I have had in my 'in progress' file for like...months. Yay! I am releasing two new things for the guys :)

First is a leather vest. This vest comes on the jacket layer, and each comes with two versions: open and closed. It is available plain, with a chains detail at the back, and with a maltese cross detail at the back, and is only $75L. Enjoy!

Set 1 is distressed leather, with a primary chain belt and a GNR belt buckle.

Set 2 is a sexy lace up. The pants lace in the back, the halter in front, and the skirt at the front of the legs.

Every bit of all three of these sets is hand drawn with the exception of the primary chain, which I actually built from a tiny picture of chain.

A huge thank you

To everyone who purchased 'Invocation', made a donation to the kiosk, or visited the SexGen Sim to take part in the 78 hours of music and shopping event. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Invocation ~ Limited Edition

I am sure you have heard about the devastating bush fires in South Australia, and many groups in Second Life are helping to raise funds to help all the people involved. Many have lost their lives, whole downs have been burned to the ground, countless people injured. Such a terrible thing.

Digital Angels are hosting a fund raising event this weekend. 72 hours of music and shopping, to raise money for the Australian Red Cross. Several musicians, live and tribute, have donated their time to this event, and so have several designers. They will be selling their wares at the event, with proceeds going to the fund. I have been lucky enough to be able to participate, and I have made a Limited Edition pants set for the occasion. This outfit symbolizes the invocation of fire, to fight the terrible fire that still rages.

The music/shopping event runs from midnite Feb 22 to midnite Feb 24. After that, the pantset will be removed and never sold again.

Yet another Minidress!

I'm tellin ya, when the muze hits me, it hits me for a bunch. I don't know why, I am often driven to work on the same kind of thing for a while before I move on to the next. Somehow, even with the big rebuild, grand opening, etc., I STILL managed to crank out a new one. Hope you like it! My partner sure does *wink*.

I have an extra special release for spring next week, and there is a miniskirt involved....but after that I promise, I will be working on something else!!

Oh? You want a hint?

What's new in RBZ land

Besides corsets and minidresses, of course :)

A 2048 bordering the back end of my shop in Phantasm went up for sale. Was funny because I had just been talking to Zep about how I was probably going to need to tier up at some point, and I was going to start watching the auctions with an eventual move. I HATE moving my store, it's in a lovely location with ocean views...so when this parcel went up for sale, I grabbed it. Next will be a bit of a rebuild :)

I have already started the new section of the store, and I like it so far. Once it is ready I can start the restructure of the current building, hopefully I will have enough primage to be able to rebuild it up above and just move it down, that remains to be seen :D

So wish me luck!

A new release and a Valentine's freebie :)

I have put up a new corset set in four colors!

Only $100L each or get the fatpack for only $300L :)

Also a new valentine's freebie, the same corset but done in a rich red and black, made especially for all of you!

This ensemble is only $100L (with a fatpack of all 4 colors for $300L) and is available in the mainstore and Xstreet!

Svelte in Mauve, Black, and Red!

I started out to make a valentine-ish gown. Not a huge fan of 'pink', I instead worked in a nice mauve tone. (Yes, I'm old, and I love purple, what can I say :D)

Well, I was so happy with the way this gown turned out, I made it in black and red as well. And it is made to fit!

At the front is a prim with a heart shaped texture, at the back a 'diamond' clip. Each have 3 flexi prims attached, but they are completely separate from each other. So no matter what size you are, it's a simple matter of pulling one forward and the other back (or visa versa). I love the way the flexi skirts work, very sedate, and very sexy :)

Marissa

Marissa

Marissa in Black and White

I needed a dress to wear to a party. Something dramatic...something Black and White! I made it, I like it, and I now offer it to you :) This dress can be worn with system skirt only, with a mid-thigh length flexi, or with the long ballgown type skirt. Also included in the package is a black and white orchid corsage to wear at the shoulder.

This gown was (loosely) based on the gown shown below it, which I found online.

A funny story about the Marissa dress....

Well, it's funny now....

I made the dress to wear to the launch of Dressed2Kill magazine. I wanted something to show my style (I wore it with the mid-thigh flexi by the way) but without being too extravagant. A simple black and white dress...perfect!

I bought a new skin (then ended up not wearing it...the skin is gorgeous but too 'peaches and cream' for the dress in my opinion), hit Analog Dog and found some great dollarbie hair! (I love getting free/cheap stuff that looks good!) Then off to Matreiya for some nice pumps (which weren't cheap but I love them! Haven't taken them off since!)

At any rate, I took a lot of time to make sure (I hoped) that my look was 'together'. Now due to lag, I tend to always run with 'sun and moon only' lighting. I don't wear face lights, I don't feel the need to light up the night sky :)

When I got ready to box up the dress to sell (after the party), I had just been working with some gems and so had my 'local lights' turned on. I tried on the dress before boxing it up to make sure all was ok...and OMG the corsage had enough lights in it to light up the grid!

The lights!!! I'm BLIND!!!

The lights!!! I'm BLIND!!!

/me sighs

/me sighs
The corsage has been fixed now...my dignity is another story.

An Opinion regarding Source Material

Some opinions I have been reading lately on other blogs have made me want to talk about where my ideas come from.

Several of my gowns, and a few of my other outfits as well, are based on gowns/clothing I find online. I look at fashion shows, and designer releases, and if I see something I like and that I think I can make work in SL, I use it as an inspiration. I was surprised to read that there are people who think that this is a 'bad' thing. It is?

I don't claim to be a RL fashion designer. If I were, I wouldn't have time to do what I do in SL. What I am is a self-taught graphic 'designer'. I have used PSP for years, I have designed my own websites, making all my own banners and buttons, backgrounds, bars, etc. I have created forum skins, making all those elements as well. When I came to SL, I thought 'WoW I want to make clothes!' Then when I learned that clothes were made using applications like Gimp, Photoshop and PSP...I was hooked. The years I had invested in PSP (several different versions all the way back to the original Jasc) were nothing compared to what I have learned since then! But I digress...

I am making this entry because I want to make very clear the fact that some of my ideas come from gowns/clothes I find online. I do not pretend that these are my 'own' designs (although some of the things I have made are my own, sometimes an idea just comes and I run with it for good or ill). But I will not bend to the ideas of what is right or wrong according to this or that SL fashion blog. I do not pull a picture of a gown, stretch it onto a template and sell it (but I don't care if other people do). I DO sometimes look at an outfit or piece of clothing and try to replicate it. Sometimes what I come up with looks like the source, sometimes it varies a great deal as I put my own spin on the idea.

Just sayin :)

Jeans and T's for the Guys

A couple more pairs of jeans and some biker t shirts are up in the shop and on XStreet, now that I'm making a few things for the HIZ n HERZ line, I seem to be on a roll!

And not only are they a great mans jean, but I love the way they look on me too!
